Dontaku is finally here! This two night event sees Hiroshi Tanahashi second defence of the NEVER Openweight championship as he faces Switchblade Jay White in the night one main event, The Iron Fingers of hell are also up for grabs, the final item from legendary Suzuki-Gun member Takashi Lizuka which are fabled to be imbued with his evil spirit (man I love NJPW) and Taichi will look to keep this iron gauntlet with the faction.

Night One Predictions 3/5/2021

NEVER Openwight Championship match: Hiroshi Tanahashi Vs Jay White

Tanahashi has a new found respect for the NEVER title and the two have great chemistry, White has his eyes set on taking the gold and becoming a Grand slam champion for the second time, The new lease of life in Hiroshi Tanahashi towards this title won’t make this an easy affair and Jay White will fall short this time.

Hiroshi Tanahashi to retain.

Iron Fingers of Hell Ladder Match: Taichi Vs Tama Tonga.

Taichi had secured the Iron fingers of Hell in 2019 when the aforementioned Takashi Lizuka retired, another match which had some seeds sown on the Road events, Bullet club choked out Taichi with the ladders after one of the no contest clashes and the Suzuki-Gun member will want some retribution here.

While it would be interesting to see the Bullet Club hold the glove and add it to their array of underhanded tactics, Taichi is going to want some semblance of revenge and this ladder match is going to be exciting.

Taichi to Win.

Zack Sabre Jr Vs Tanga Loa

If ZSJ wins this match he and Taichi get a shot at the Tag Team Titles, if they lose they can no longer challenge for the titles, ZSJ always is a pleasure to watch, his unique style in ring and should be able to manage the rough and ready styling of the Bullet Club. As long as interferences are kept minimal.

ZSJ To Win.

The United Empire ( Jeff Cobb, Great-O-Khan, Will ospreay & Aaron Henare Vs. Los Ingobernables De Japon ( Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, Sanada & Bushi).

These two teams have been viciously at each others throats on the Road to Dontaku and all eyes will be on Shingo Takagi and Will Ospreay in this one. The two face off in the main event of night two for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. I expect Shingo to get the pin here tonight to add some last minute fuel to what could be the match of the whole Dontaku event.

LIJ to win

Roppongi 3K (Sho & Yoh) & Kazuchika Okada Vs. Suzuki-Gun (EL Desperado, Minoru Suzuki & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

These two have been clashing all along the road events with Suzuki-Gun coming out on top for the majority. Roppongi 3K have their strongest partner to date in the returning Okada and this will be a great factor going into the match.

Minoru and Okada have a storied history and these two will undoubtedly be the focal point of this match and will beat each other senseless and it will be a delight to witness, Okada has only been seen once since Sakura Genesis and has a huge match at Wrestle Grand Slam so will be looking to make a statement here.

Kazuchika Okada to get the pin and the win for his team.

Eight man Tag Match: Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Toru Yano, Tiger Mask & Master Wato Vs Bullet Club (Evil, Yujiro Takahashi, Taiji Ishimori & Dick Togo)

This opener has a little bit of extra kick to it with the history between Toru Yano and Evil; these two will square off at Wrestle Grand Slam in Yokohama Stadium and recently at the KOPW 2021, the other competitors will have their sights set on the Junior Heavyweight division and a win here could bump them up the ranks.

Bullet Club to win.
