Joey’s Night Of Champions 2015 Predictions

NOC posterNight Of Champions is one of those middle-of-the-road PPVs whose title suggests it’s going to be a grander affair than it ever manages to be. This year is no different, in spite of the addition of the so-called icon Sting, who takes on Rollins in what will hopefully be a short match. The card is stacked (Rollins himself has two championship matches) but, unlike an event like, say, Hell In A Cell, there’s no big, must-watch match to tune in for, unfortunately. It’s a shame, because there’s a wealth of talent involved, but NOC may turn out to be yet another extended RAW (if we’re lucky). Here are some totally unofficial predictions for the big night:

6-Man Tag Team Match: Neville & The Lucha Dragons vs. The Cosmic Wasteland (Stardust and The Ascension)
We kick things off with a 6-man tag starring some of the coolest names on the current roster. And The Ascension. This is just a taster for what’s to come, something to tide us over during the presumably over-long kick-off show. Count on some cool spots from the Dragons and possibly a screwy finish, but if this leads to a proper feud I’ll be shocked. Most of the action thus far has been relegated to Smackdown, which doesn’t bode well.
Predicted winners: Neville & The Lucha Dragons

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
This feud does nothing for me, and this match does nothing for me. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end because I’d like to stop hating Ziggler again. Apparently, Lana and Summer Rae were initially supposed to have their own match before the former got injured. I’m not sure whether that would’ve made this feud any more interesting, but at least it would’ve been something new. Hopefully this is first out of the gate and is over with quickly.
Predicted winner: Dolph Ziggler

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Ryback (c) vs. Kevin Owens
If Owens doesn’t pick up the win here, I’m calling bullshit. The very fact Ryback is even holding the IC title at all is a bit of a joke but if Kevin Owens can take it from him, kind of out of nowhere, it’ll soften the blow a little bit. And The Big Guy’s reign of terror will be over before he can injure anyone else with a botched table spot. Owens deserves a proper story-line, he deserves much better than this in general, but at the very least he’s on the PPV and he’s going to look good no matter who he’s fighting opposite so we can sort of be grateful for that. Now give him a proper opponent to fight.
Predicted winner: Kevin Owens

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Sting
I’m not going to pretend I’m happy to see Stinger taking yet another PPV spot from someone half decent, and more deserving, like Barrett, Neville, etc. He’s old and he’s dull and he moves like he’s about to drop dead any second. Hopefully Rollins makes quick work of the old timer, putting himself the fuck over in the process and ridding us of the Crow reject for the time being. Seriously, make it stop.
Predicted winner: Seth Rollins

Nikki Bella Charlotte

WWE United States Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. John Cena
Rollins’ second match of the night isn’t particularly inspired booking either, but at the same time, a win over Cena is still a pretty big deal and these two will bring the house down regardless of the outcome. I’d like to see Rollins retain both belts at Night Of Champions. It makes the most sense for his character, it keeps the story-line trundling along and even if Cena or Stinger did need a win (they don’t) it wouldn’t make sense to put the belt on either of them at this stage. Let Rollins keep ’em both and become the biggest star in the company, as he deserves to be.
Predicted winner: Seth Rollins

WWE Divas Championship Re-match:Nikki Bella (c) vs. Charlotte
The stipulation for this match is that if there are any shenanigans on the Bella end of things Nikki will lose the title. It’s exciting to see a women’s match on the card that actually means something for once. Even though the Twin Magic angle for the title match on RAW this past week was eye-rollingly ill-judged, that bout was an exhibition, purely booked to kill time until Nikki broke AJ Lee‘s record. And that it did so now, at the PPV, the real match will take place and Charlotte should steal the title from Nikki easily. It’s her time, after all, she’s squandered her talents in NXT for much too long and, if she wins, it’ll kick-start the Divas revolution proper. We may even get some actual story-lines for the ladies once Bayley moves up and the Four Horsewomen are reunited.
Predicted winner: Charlotte

6-Man Tag Team Match: Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, & Mystery Man vs. The Wyatt Family
How times have changed. Just last year, we were gearing up for The Shield to take on The Wyatts at Elimination Chamber, in what would turn out to be one of the most gnarly matches in their consistently brilliant feud. All these guys had to do was stare at each other across the ring on RAW and we were salivating for what was to come. Now, with Forehead Mc Goo joining the ranks of the swamp-dwellers, the prospect is less enticing than yet another Sheamo/Orton bout. And speaking of whom, if Orton isn’t the mystery third member, I’ll eat Wyatt’s hat and alligator shoes.
Predicted winner: Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Mystery Man

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. The Dudley Boyz
Presumably, the Dudleyz have been drafted in to put the already much-adored New Day even more over with the fans. Expect them to get their asses beat at the PPV, but in a respectable, old-timer way that ensures their sterling reputation remains intact. This should be a fun little match, even if it’s the last time we see the Dudleyz for a while. The New Day are on a roll as of late, firing on all cylinders, and retaining the championship means their feud with The Prime Time Players would be cranked up a notch too, so it’s win-win all round.
Predicted winners: The New Day
